LEARNING CENTERS

At Learning Place Preschool, we focus on a developmentally academic curriculum – this means a strong emphasis on active and hands-on learning for your child. We have many designated “learning centers” placed throughout the classrooms:

“Science Center” This is where children will be performing preschool-friendly science experiments, learn about the lifecycle of plants, history of dinosaurs, nature, and more.

“Arts Center” Here we paint using watercolors, make handprints, cut and paste different arts and crafts.

“Writing Center” Here, we teach them to trace and write alphabets, words, and practice pronunciation. We have a supply of wipe and erase writing boards that the children can use to practice repeatedly. With their own little writing boards, it makes it fun for them too!

“Math Center” is combined with a technology center. We have brand new computers now at the school and are planning to introduce a few technology applications where the children will learn to use the mouse, interact with cartoon characters, and learn through fun. Technology is becoming an important part in this generation’s lives and we hope that through some introduction, your child will learn technology with ease.

“Dramatic Play Center” Here, we allow them to learn through playing. For example, we have weaving toys and pretend play toys with costumes to teach children community roles and motor skills.

“Blocks Center” Blocks are crucial to any child’s development because they start understanding the basics of building.

“Library Center” We have a very extensive book collection with over 250 books, from educational reference books to story and character books. The library is where the children can get some quiet time and read any book they want. We also read them stories and nursery rhymes here.
